Tennessee DUI – Field Sobriety Tests
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has developed Standardized Field Sobriety Tests for officers to administer in the field in order to determine whether a driver, who the officer has reasonable suspicion to believe in under the influence of a drug or intoxicant to the extent that he or she is impaired, is in fact Driving Under the Influence. Due to the standardized nature of these tests, the officer is required to administer these test in the proscribed, standardized manner in accordance with NHTSA procedure.
